Grignan, a Picturesque Village in Provence

Grignan owes its fame to Madame de Sévigné, the renowned 17th-century letter writer. Overflowing with affection for her daughter Françoise, who married the Count of Grignan, she wrote heartfelt letters filled with tender words and vivid details of life at the time. Eventually, she moved into the family’s château to stay close to her daughter, spending her final days there. Today, this historic place still echoes with Madame de Sévigné’s passionate words, her memory lingering in every stone.
